What a diamond can do...an awesome resource!!!

One of my fabulous brides has an awesome blog that I want to share with you! Margeaux originally saw some of my work in Ginger Michell. We were an instant match when she came by to meet me! Today I got to meet her handsome policeman-fiance Doug. Poor thing had just come off the night shift and was ready for bed, but I am so glad that he came along so that we could meet.

For all of you brides out there in the planning frenzy you have to check out Margeaux's blog. It is called What a Diamond Can Do. She is so resourceful and has lots of great ideas and tips for all the planners out there. She is a major blogger and has been blogging for about a year on her other blog, Note to Self. When she got engaged instead of making a wedding website she decided to blog all of her wedding adventures! She actually started the blog on Oct 3, 2008 and her wedding date is October 3, 2009!

She is so spunky, cute, and organized! Check out her blog!

Who says white boys can't dance?

Someone recently emailed me this video and I wanted to post it on here to share with my blog readers. This guy, Matt went all over the world dancing with different people in really amazing locations. He did it to show the affect that dancing has on all people. I Love dancing and especially at receptions! It is not unusual to see me out on the dance floor with my camera getting some actions shots. At one wedding I ended up in the spotlight dance as the DJ started chanting "Go camera girl, go camera girl!" I could not agree more with Matt that dancing can bring any group of people together in celebration. I just felt joy when I was watching this and hope it brightens your day too!

This is the link where I orginally saw the video!

Happy People Dancing on Planet Earth
Credit: Matt Harding & Melissa Nixon

Explanation: What are these humans doing? Dancing. Many humans on Earth exhibit periods of happiness, and one method of displaying happiness is dancing. Happiness and dancing transcend political boundaries and occur in practically every human society. Above, Matt Harding traveled through many nations on Earth, started dancing, and filmed the result. The video is perhaps a dramatic example that humans from all over planet Earth feel a common bond as part of a single species. Happiness is frequently contagious -- few people are able to watch the above video without smiling.

I would love to photograph any of you busting out some of Matt's mad dance skills. So, get to practicing because wedding season is right around the corner!

Jennifer & Michael...Romance and golden light!

Jennifer and Michael got together with me this past Saturday for their engagement session! I was wondering when we were going to get to do their engagement session because Michael is another military man. He is a marine! Michael just graduated from Quantico! He was moving all his stuff to FL and made a pit stop in Macon for their shoot. This couple has a lot going on this month. Originally, when I first met Jenn, she and Michael's date was set for March 15th. She is learning early to adapt. They had to move their date up to January 31st for the military.

Even though both of their lives have been a whirlwind of wedding planning and moving they squeezed in time for me. It was the perfect golden day to capture this sweet couple's love. Romance was in the air...it was clear that this couple was not letting the stress of life get in the way of their joy of just being together!

Here is a preview of a couple of my favs!

Jenn's favorite color is purple so we had to get a shot with these grapes! There will be lots of purple on her wedding day!

The forecast for the day was rain but the sun came peeking though the clouds and we were blessed with beautiful light!

I love this shot of Jennifer. She is going to be a beautiful bride!

Aren't they just perfect together?

Out in the golden grass!

Jenn was playing with Mike's tags....there is just something about a "Military Man."

These two are my new favorite pics! Romance and Sweetness!

These were cute!

Mike got some practice modeling too. Its going to be really cool photographing him in his Blues. He is not just the groom at this wedding either! He is also the cake baker. He is planning on making his own Groom's cake! I will show you how that turns out...my first Groom/Baker!

That must have been a good kiss... look at her toes!

Thank you Jennifer and Michael for meeting up with me for a fun afternoon. I am so glad that I finally got to meet you Mike! Your wedding is right around the corner and I know you cannot wait! I will see you both in a couple of weeks!!!

New Year's Resolutions!

Ok, I know that is the 12th of January and I am just now getting to blogging some of my resolutions but here they are.

1. Read More. I am just not much of a reader...my hubbs will read though a 500-1000 page book in a week! But to put more focus on this one I want to read my Bible more.

2. Be more specific when I pray for people as well as my own needs. Pray for my husband more too. I am reading(see I am already making headway) The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian. I actually got this book as a wedding gift and just started reading it a week ago! It is really encouraging!

3. Loose weight! This one is always on here, but I have managed to accomplish some of this goals from last year's resolution!!! So this one should not be as hard this year! More than that, stay in shape. I did a 5K last year, see here. I would like to do more of these but, they are usually on Saturdays and I am usually shooting weddings. Also, I would like to play some soccer. Soccer was a BIG part of my life growing up and I know that there is a woman's league in Macon. I just need to get connected.... I think the games are during the week too! I guess Yoga goes in this category as well. I love yoga class and I just need to be more consistent in going.

4. Grow as an artist! Look at and be exposed to more art! All kinds of art not just photography! My sister Ava gave me a book of the painter Mucha's work! He was an amazing artist that focused on painting women. Great inspiration!

5. Walk Kensie every day! I know this will not happen, but I want to try!

6. Grown my style and knowledge of photography. I am going to be looking for some workshops and classes that will help me to continue to grow!

7. Blog more often....See the problem is.. I cannot SPELL to save my life. I dread that email or phone call I know I will get after ever time I hit post! "Jenny did you know you misspelled (fill in the blank here)"
Its just a fact of life for me. Spelling and correct grammar is the bane of my existence. I want my blog to sound the way that I talk so I just type what comes out of my head with no respect for grammar and spelling. I have at least 3 people I will call to proofread for me, but still things slip though the cracks. My sister, Charlotte has been the biggest help of all. (thanks Char) So, sometimes the reason I decide to just not blog is because of spelling and I will try my best to get better at this in 2009! In advance, I would like to apologize for all grammatical and spelling errors that 2009 will bring, but it's just part of who I am. My husband said it best when he said, "You cannot spell check stupid." ie. board and bored or plane and plain, one more, purposed and proposed... just to name a few!

8. Update my website and get my "baby birds" section up!

9. Photograph more amazing Images at every wedding and other session that I shoot! Continue to challenge myself to never shoot the same thing at every wedding. Of course there are certain shots that I shoot at every wedding, but to do one thing at every wedding that I have never done. That is the goal! Stay Fresh!

10. Do something that I did not do in 2008!

Here they are the 2009 resolutions! It will be fun to look back next year to see how I have done.

Happy New Year,

Jenny Evelyn

Engaged! Angel and Andy's Airport Adventure... Now that's Alliteration!

I am still catching up from the end of '08... Angel and Andy were my last session of the year! Andy is in training as a pilot for the air force, so the only time we could catch him was over Christmas break!

We met up at Pineola Farms! It is a fabulous venue for an outdoor wedding, and its where Angel and Andy will be getting hitched in May. Later, we headed over the the airport where Andy proposed to Angel a year ago New Years Day! It was so romantic and sweet to see where she said yes!

The Lovely couple!

Sweet Cheeks!

I got an email from Angel yesterday that cracked me up...

"Andy and I had such a blast with you last week! We kept saying "grab a kiss" to each other all week." I really did not realize how much I say that when I am shooting couples. But I guess I do...here they are grabbing a kiss!

This was my favorite from the shoot!

Her ring photographed beautifully is on this old glass jar. Its one of the colors for her wedding, and her ring was gorgeous reflecting all that blue!

The pecan orchard is where their ceremony will take place! I cannot wait! Its going to be so beautiful in the spring!

I love these. They are so sunny and cheery!

They jumped, danced, and practiced a dip.

Then it was off the air port. We got to go into one of the hangers and take pics with a plane. Andy learned to fly on a plane just like this. The owner even let them get in it for a couple of shots! Andy was so in his element.

First, he hoisted his woman in....Andy this photo is just for you!

By the way, Angel rocks some cute shoes!

More Planes!

We walked out to the runway where Andy proposed to get a couple of shots there.

Its a bird, its a plane, its... no, its a plane!

There is a plane landing in the background of this shot! That is the little white thing!

On the runway ... well, not actually the run way...but close enough.

Angel and Andy, I had so much fun photographing y'all! I hope Angel enjoys all the pis of Andy since she won't get to see him much until the wedding day. I don't know how those military women do it. I have so much respect for you!

I hoped you enjoy the preview..more pictures to come!
